If you have any type of flinching or trigger snatching problem then think seriously about using a larger dot on your first red dot sight. Now that I have been shooting a 3MOA dot for some years I like the smaller dot for precision & would probably even go down to a 2MOA if available. So, if you do target shooting at 3 inch targets at 50 yards, the 6 is a bad idea, as it will cover the whole target. But, I usually practice at 15, 20, 25, & 30 yards so I do see a lot of dot movement on the target. Until I used a red dot for a while I actually shot sights more accurately & definitely smoother than the dot. When I first started using a red dot on a pistol I used a 3.5MOA dot & I had a difficult time getting a smooth shot off as that darn small red dot was bouncing all over the target (for the first few weeks I had thought that I made a big mistake with the 3.5MOA dot). My personal take on red dot 'dot' size is (if) this is your first red dot on a pistol & you are shooting at combat & reaction type targets then the large dot is probably better for a first red dot pistol sight.
